Tell me about the stone Our Antique Gold limestone is a warm-shaded neutral stone, understated yet inviting. Its uniquely aged appearance adds a certain charm to any interior. It has a stony, mottled pattern in a light cream, an effect which many man-made tiles try, and fail, to replicate. You cannot beat Antique Gold limestone for the elegance it brings to a home.
The overall effect is a fairly uniform tile, there are no large crystals or veins, only a subtle marbling. Within each batch you'll have a highly predictable pattern, it's a stone you can trust.
Limestone is created over millions of years by the layering of mineral substrates. These are then compacted to form a durable stone famed for its hardwearing qualities. Antique Gold, in particular, is a dense limestone and has long been used for tiles in a variety of applications. It's great for those with a busy home as it's easy to maintain once it has received the proper protection.
Tell me about the tile's finish This tile's rich color is celebrated by its glossy, polished finish. The stone is ground down to a fine, flat surface, which is then buffed to a beautiful shine. The process is labor-intensive and often requires the removal of up to 1mm of the stones surface to achieve such a look. The final result is a mirror-shine, gleaming tile which bounces light around a room creating a feeling of space.
The reflective surface is the ultimate luxury finish, ideal for those searching for a high-end feel. But an additional benefit that is often overlooked is how easy a polished tile is to clean. While a textured stone has bumps and grooves which can collect the dirt, a polished stone is smooth enough to wipe clean in an instant. Use these tiles on a bathroom wall or kitchen backsplash to add a touch of elegance and design edge.
