Tell me about the stone As close to a perfect white as nature can get, Combrun Alt Limestone tiles are pure and elegant. A classic off-white, they are light and bright. They have a medium-grain running throughout, evidenced by tiny pale crystals.
Combrun Alt limestone gives the effect of a pure white from far away, but the subtle pattern within the stone means each tile is totally unique. This is the charm of a natural stone - no one will have tiles identical to you. There is white veining within the stone which creates a very subtle marble effect - a gentle blend of near whites, with a cool undertone. If you're looking for a white, natural stone, you'll be hard-pressed to find a stone as perfectly pale as this one.
Limestone is a sedimentary rock, similar in composition to marble. It is a soft stone and therefore makes ideal flooring as it feels gentle underfoot. It creates the most beautiful pale colored tiles and in some cases, even holds evidence of tiny fossils. It is created when layers of sediment and mineral deposits collect on top of one another. Over millions of years, these harden to form a solid rock.
Tell me about the tile's finish The consistent coloring within the stone lends itself beautifully to a honed finish. This is where the stone is ground down to a silky smooth, level surface. It is not polished or buffed but is left with a satin finish, just like that of a whipped cream. The matte effect is highly contemporary and works great with an interior that will accentuate this. It is not reflective, meaning it creates a soft, muted interior which is not harsh or clinical.

On top of the design benefits, a honed finish is also incredibly practical. Compared to a polished stone, it has much better traction. This makes it ideal for use on flooring throughout the home. It can be used in bathrooms and kitchens as even while it is wet, it is still fairly slip-resistant. In terms of durability, a honed finish lasts much longer than many other options available. The matte surface is not easily dulled by high levels of traffic, making it suitable for hallways and kitchens.
What overall look will I achieve? Combrun Alt limestone is perfect for those looking to achieve a super minimalist, contemporary design. It works great when paired with white gloss kitchen cupboards and a contrasting granite countertop. The effect is one of pure luxury. Alternatively, keep it traditional by installing Combrun Alt limestone alongside a beautiful cast iron roll top bathtub. Add color accents with a rich green houseplant and bronze or gold metallic faucets for a sumptuous design you'll want to while away the hours in.
