Tell me about the stone With its oatmeal, soft beige coloring this Distressed Durango Travertine creates a feeling of calm and tranquillity. It has a gentle variation in tone, with richer beige hues balanced with a creamier shade. It has a natural, stony mottled effect which captures the essence of its organic roots. Its delicate pattern blends seamlessly with a variety of colors and designs. Whether you're looking for a subtle backdrop for a colorful home, or want a stone to match your understated taste, Durango Travertine is ideal.
Travertine is created in a similar way to Limestone. Both are formed when layers of sediment build up over time. The resulting pressure solidifies the minerals to form a hardened rock. Travertine is unique because it requires a body of water rather than intense pressure and heat to form. It is a relatively soft stone, making it great for flooring because it feels lovely to walk on.
Tell me about the tile's finish Distressed Durango Travertine has a soft, honed finish. The surface is ground till it is perfectly smooth, creating a matte stone which adds to the feeling of calm. There are no harsh reflections, instead, the surface appears muted.
This is a great finish in terms of durability and functionality. Travertine does not hold a polished finish well and tends to dull naturally over time. With a honed finish, you already have a satin effect surface, meaning constant buffing is not necessary.
It's also great for use in bathrooms and kitchens because it has more traction than some of the other stones on the market. When marble or granite is used for flooring, it is very often textured to provide sufficient grip. This honed finish travertine has more traction that these harder stones, making it all round more functional.

The edge of the tile has a distressed finish. This is created by knocking or chiseling the perimeter of each stone to create the effect of an antique, or worn-down tile. This only adds to the relaxed design element. Everything about this tile oozes serenity.
