The Flowering Tamarind Bonsai Tree (Tamarindus Indica) is a tropical bonsai valued for its attractive form, bright green foliage, and distinctive rough bark.
Native to tropical Africa and naturalized around the world, the Tamarind is a long-lived, slow-growing tree known for its shade, edible fruit, and dense pinnate leaves with feathery leaflets that close at night.
Its inconspicuous inch-wide, five-petaled flowers grow in small racemes and are yellow with orange or red streaks. The flower buds are pink because of the outer color of the four sepals, which are shed when the flower opens.
Prized as bonsai and makes a great indoor bonsai.
