This is a museum-quality 20-inch replica of H.M.S. Sovereign of the Seas, a first-rate ship in the British Royal Navy for more than 50 years in the 1600s. This Exclusive Edition includes a unique serial number etched into the hull for model identification and production details.
Each model is hand built from scratch by master craftsmen using historical photographs, drawings, or original plans. Built to scale with high-grade wood such as western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany, it uses plank-on-frame construction and requires hundreds of hours to finish.
This ship model features three decks, three rows of cannons on each side, a bowsprit with brass statues and brass ornaments, three large masts with hand-knotted rigging, hand-stitched rolled-up linen sails, metal anchors, a wooden rudder, metal stationed cannons, lifeboats with ribs and planks, a wooden cabin, and an admiral's quarter with a metal lantern and brass ornaments. It also comes with a solid wood base and brass nameplate.
History: launched in 1637, H.M.S. Sovereign of the Seas was the most powerfully armed ship in the world in its day, carrying 102 bronze guns. Later renamed Sovereign and then Royal Sovereign, it was destroyed by fire in 1697 in Chatham.
