Tell me about the stone Nova Blue limestone is actually more of a medium gray color than a bright blue as its name suggests. However, when the light reflects off this beautifully understated stone, a subtle hint of blue undertone becomes apparent. Just like a stormy sky, it is clouded and petulant, but if you look through the darkness, a light at the end is almost visible.
Also known as Azul Lagos after its Portuguese origins, it is a highly regarded stone from one of the world's most popular limestone regions. It is famous for its superior quality and stunning color palette that is almost unrivaled in the design world. A pale gray mottled effect breaks the stone's continuity. For this reason, no two tiles are identical, giving it the characterful charm that a classic natural stone should have.
Limestone is a hardwearing stone that has been used in construction for generations. Most famously, the sedimentary rock was used to create the Great Pyramids of Giza, one of the most ancient structures still in existence today. It is no doubt, therefore, that your kitchen, bathroom or hallway will be no match for this durable material. Add it to your interior, and you'll have a sturdy material that will look as beautiful in years to come as the day it was laid.
Tell me about the tile's finish Understated and classy, this beautiful honed finish is your ideal flooring solution. It is totally smooth underfoot, with no bumps or grooves in sight. The texture is satin-like and matte, just like a smooth whipped cream. It softens the light in a room, creating a warm and cozy environment despite the cool-hued stone.

But it's not just the design benefits that make a honed finish so perfect. It also comes with a number of functional advantages too. In terms of maintenance, a honed finish requires a fairly low level of upkeep. It's easy to clean as there are no grooves or ridges to catch the dirt. It requires washing with clean water and pH neutral cleaners recommended for natural stone surfaces to keep it looking its best. Avoid using products containing bleach as they can discolor the stone. There is no further polishing or refinement required. The stone's surface is innately dull, so wear and tear will not detrimentally impact its look.
Limestone is slightly porous, and therefore you should seal it with a stone protector to prevent staining. The only real maintenance required is a sealant top up every couple of years.
What overall look will I achieve? Nova Blue is one of the most design versatile stones on the market. Its gray color palette is ideal for creating a contemporary design, without being flashy or bold. Pair it with wood, whites, neutrals, or even bright colors, and Azul Lagos will blend seamlessly, giving the design a subtle high-end lift.
