The Oriental Ficus bonsai (Ficus Benjamina 'Orientalis') is an evergreen fig species native to South and South-East Asia. This tree is trained in a small coiled trunk style and has shiny leaves.
Ficus is well suited to bonsai training, with sturdy trunks and good branching characteristics. It can be kept indoors year-round; a brighter location encourages more compact growth.
Trim in early summer. The new leaves that grow afterward will be smaller than the leaves removed.
