Professional bonsai soil for use in bonsai soil mixes or on its own. This 5 Lb. bag contains 2.5 Qts. of a unique ceramic granule made from expanded and vitrified selected shale.
Its properties help provide free passage of air and water to root systems while significantly reducing soil compaction. The soil is sterile, environmentally inert, natural non-toxic, highly absorbent, and generally neutral PH.
Dimensionally stable, it will not degrade like other amending products, so there is no need to re-apply it year after year. It absorbs excess water during rain or watering, then slowly releases that water as the soil dries.
A healthy bonsai soil profile is approximately 25% water, 25% air and 50% solid particulate matter. When soils are compacted, that balance is lost; this bonsai soil helps support a better growing medium.
