Tell me about the stone Our Rainbow sandstone is a vibrant and colorful stone capable of adding a unique design element to any outside area or home environment. Layers of cream, orange, and pastel pinks combine to create a stunning lined effect that seems as if it has been designed by an artist rather than created by nature. Each stone has its own totally unique pattern, a stunning display of colors unrivaled in the natural world.
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock created by layers of minerals depositing upon one another over time. These initially soft materials become compressed by the weight of the increasing layers, cementing together to form a hardened rock.
Despite its sandy appearance, its actually an incredibly durable material, more than capable of weathering the storms faced by external applications. This makes it ideal for use as a patio, porch, or driveway. However, Rainbow sandstone can also be used inside the home to create a wonderful floor or wall feature throughout the home.
Tell me about the tile's finish Smooth with a matte texture, these honed finish tiles are the perfect balance of nature and refinement. The stone has been ground down until beautifully smooth and then left with its satin-like surface. There is an innate dullness to the stone, the colors appear understated, and its matte effect creates a soft-focus glow. This will make any design feel homely and comforting.
A honed finish has benefits in terms of durability and functionality. It makes a perfect flooring tile because it offers sufficient traction so that the tile does not feel slippery underfoot. There is little maintenance involved with a honed tile as it doesn't need a regular buffing or polishing. However, you may wish to seal your tiles with a stone protectant to prevent stains.
