The Redwood Bonsai Tree Coiled Trunk Style is a Dawn Redwood, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, from Bonsai Boy.
This remarkable tree is a native of Manchuria, China, once thought extinct and rediscovered in the 1940's. It is a true Redwood and a living fossil, an isolated "relic" species from a time when vast forests of them existed.
Its foliage is more lace like than our native Redwood, and it is deciduous. In the fall, the light green sprays turn yellow, then bronze, and fall off. Keep outdoors.
