Tell me about the stone Rosal limestone is a beautiful light beige with slightly pink undertones. It is an incredibly popular stone, in high demand the world over due to its beautiful coloring and design potential. It has a thin to medium grain, with a generally regular pattern. There is little in the way of veining or marbling, yet it still retains a natural stone effect. When you take a close look, there are small crystals, evidence of this tile's metamorphic geology.
The creation of limestone starts with layers of sediment compacting over millions of years. A Rosal limestone is carved from quarries in Portugal, and while is it a naturally softer stone than many others on the market, it has long been used for interior tiling due to its hardwearing nature. In order to prolong its beauty, it should be sealed with a stone protector. Once this is completed, it is easy to maintain, only requiring a small amount of upkeep.
Tell me about the tile's finish This Rosal limestone tile is honed. It is carved to a level surface and then ground down until perfectly smooth. The final effect is a satin, matte finish. It is unpolished, subtle and demure. This gives the stone a highly desirable contemporary look.
It's also a great finish in terms of durability. The matte effect is not dulled by prolonged use, so can be used in high traffic areas of the home such as hallways, and kitchens. Slips and trips are less likely with a honed finish which provides a tile with traction. So, if you're looking for a natural stone to tile an entrance hall or bathroom floor, a honed finish is much more appropriate than a more refined surface.
