Tell me about the stone Our West Country slate is a modern dove gray with overlaying silver and copper tones. It is variegated in pattern creating a rugged metallic look. Its softer pale gray tones make it subtler than other slates on the market, perfect for incorporating into a bright modern interior design or creating that stunning sun-trap patio.
Slate is formed by relatively low pressure and temperature changes upon existing shale or mudstone deep beneath the earth's surface. It is a fine-grained rock, which forms naturally into sheets. This means it is easily cut into flat smooth slabs making it the ultimate stone for tiles.
Often used on rooftops to protect a home from all weather conditions, it is a famously durable stone. It seamlessly blends in with any garden design, its rugged earthy texture creating a natural looking landscape. Slate can be used for flooring in all areas of the home. It's great for use in kitchens and hallways, since its hardwearing nature means its great at resisting the wear and tear of daily life.
Tell me about the tile's finish These tiles have a natural cleft face, a rugged finish that accentuates it's beautifully layered, rocky texture. Each stone is cut to a flat, level surface without being smoothed or ground. This leaves the tile with its natural texture, just how slate should be.
It makes a perfect floor tile, as even while the tile is wet, the stone's grooves and ridges have traction and are not slippery. It is a finish which is not dulled by wear and tear or by harsh weather conditions. The stone is as natural as can be and will stay that way, just as it would in its original environment.

What overall look will I achieve? Each tile is highly unique, differing from the next in pattern and texture. West Country slate is great for creating a beautifully light garden wall or patio. Its pale gray tones reflect the sunlight, making the perfect place to sit back and relax.
